    All I want to do is watch a DVD!!!

    `In properties, General tab...Device type: DVD/CD-ROM drives, Manufacturer: (Standard CD-ROM drives), Location: 1 (1).device enabled.
    Properties tab...has cd player volume, and digital cd playback checek box.
    DVD Region tab...Currenet region.1
    Volumes tab... Disk: CD-ROM 2, Type: DVD, Status: No Media, Partition style: N\A, Capacity: 0mb, Unallocated space: 0mb, Resevred space: 0mb...Volumes; box is empty.
    Driver tab...tried to update driver...I've gone into device manager and change the "Pio" to "DMA if available" still my DVD's won't play, a box pop's up "please insert a disk into drive D;

    This problem seems to have no answer, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Need some history here?
    Did you recently install this drive? If not, how old is the drive? When did it stop playing DVD's? Did you recently install some new software or hardware which may of caused the DVD drive to stop playing DVD's? Will it still burn a DVD? What media players are installed? Is your DVD drive presently configured for AUTOPLAY? In Device Manager, expand DVD/CD-ROM drives, does the burner show there by name. And when you right click on it's name and select properties. Does it say the device is working properly?

    It does say "device working properly". I'm not sure how old the drive is. It's been a family computer for 4yrs now. Its doesn't burn dvds it supposed to only read them. Auto play is set it says "no disk in drive"
