- bought and installed an adaptec AVC-2010 PCI capture card which comes with "MyDVD" software. - decided that the software was 'kludgy' and difficult to understand, - but I could capture, edit and burn - bought and installed NERO6.0. Part of instructions was to download latest DirectX software from Microsoft. - Have never got NERO to capture. - can't launch MyDVD anymore, says there is a 'run error'. - any ideas? related to the Directx9b download? or something else? Solutions? I am at my wits end since the capture was working with MyDVD software; it was created an unstable machine.
what's ASPI drivers - you mean the drivers for the Capture card????? if so, yes did that. In the meantime, I was able to 'restore' the computer to what it looked like last week - so DirectX is not the problem Any chance I have a bad Capture card? - VCR is working fine (re-plugged into television to confirm) - software - both NERO and MYDVD are both trying to capture images. - how can I check that the capture card is working and is not defective....that's the only thing I think it can be
Try to uninstall directx9 and see if your problem disappears. Also give us a better idea of what you are trying to do. My guess you are trying to put VHS on to DVD? There is a forum just for video capture from analog sources off main forum page. Go to control panel--add remove programs to uninstall directx if needed. Jerry
thanks - yes I am trying to capture VHS to the HD. DirectX is not the problem as I restored my HD and registry to its state prior to downloading DirectX. I also went to the store and swapped for another PCI capture card. So where I stand now is a) the PCI capture card is working! However, the card captures using MYDVD software only and WILL NOT capture sing Nero6. (Nero6 is a superior product!) and p.s. for future reference - you can not remove Directx9 from add/delete control panel - read the Microsoft site. I'll check the other forum as well; thanks for the tip!
Whoa! Why would you want to do that? For more information regarding ASPI see http://cd-rw.org/articles/archive/aspisetup.cfm
