Hi, Before I ask my question I would like to say that I have read the guides for the programs I have, but I still do not understand. Ok I would like to make backup copy's of my dvd's that will play on other dvd players not just my computer. I have dvd decryptor, dvd shrink, nero, and record now - which came with my computer. I just downloaded the current aspi settings. I've copied one dvd with record now which my dvd player read but then it said not right tv format or something like that. but record now will not read other discs in my collection that i would like to backup due to copyright. So I downloaded these other programs. Someone please help and tell me where to begin and what works the best. also thinking about getting dvd x copy or dvd x copy platinum a friend said platinum was by far the best. right you have dvd shrink and nero xllent this is what you do :- first off we shall set dvd shrink up 1, open shrink and goto edit then preferences 2, click on custom and set to 4300 mb ( we do this in case of shrink wrapped media which could be damaged at the edges , thus the dvd locking up at the end of film ) 3, again edit , preferences and File I/O , now check that its ticked that says enable burning with nero. now thats set up we shall now burn your dvd collection , as follows :- 1, put in your original dvd and open shrink 2, select open disc (now dvd shrink will analyze your dvd ) 3, click back up and select target device your dvd burner 4, click ok and off you go simple as that , any questions get back to me but i think you should be ok . happy burning )
spencerkl, Just a couple of points.... Check out the forum rules about posting your e-mail address, you may want to edit your original post. To edit, just click on the pencil and paper icon located on the orange? bar above the post you want to edit, near the right side of the screen. You can find Shrink/Nero Burning ROM guides here: http://www.dvdshrink.info/ Your friend said that x copy is the best, however you can get great results from the programs you already have. No need to get anything else at this point. Do you have both a DVD burner and a DVD ROM?
Ok, one dvd in my collection i really need a backup of, my computer and dvd player will read but they hesitate because its so scratched. now dvd decryptor and dvd shrink won't read this disc, but when i go to reauthor on dvd shrink it will read some of the dvd video files. Is there a way I can back up the full copy of this disc without reauthoring?
Not if your dvd is scratched so much that decrypter and shrink won't read it. You could try buying a cd/dvd scratch repair kit at wal-mart. By the way, don't throw away your record now software it also works awesomely for me.
ok I think i did this right, I used decryptor burnt the dvd to my hdd. Now altogether this is like 7 gb's for somereason I can only see folders with dvd shrink, but with decryptor I can see a bunch of vob files and title files.
oh one more question even though I know this isn't the forum for it, how come when i burn music cd's they work fine in my car, home theatre, playstation, but my xbox won't read them??
iff you have ripped your dvd with decrypter open shrink and select open files , now what your after is the VIDEO_TS folder load that into shrink
Ok, I have tried these steps for backing up dvd's. No success. What keeps happening, is i end up with segments of no audio. I have tried the intervideo with the dvd43 and sonic recordnow, and DVD decrypter with nero. Can somebody help me figure out what I might have wrong? I have a combo dvd+rw cd-rw drive and a cd-rom drive. So i have to copy to the hard drive, then burn.
Way too many apps on your rig and probably conflicts... especially Nero and RecordNow. Being new at this you should start with one, DVDShrink (and Nero to burn) and master that first. You should also figure out what media is a good match for your burner.
