Hi All, I'm Grego and this is my first post. I am a complete noob to everything video. I have a couple of questions and I apologise if this is not the right place; I had a look round but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have just bought a sony mavica which is capable of taking MPEG videos. The size of the MPEGS are 640 VGA, I was thinking about doing a couple of movies and putting them on my web-site. My question is what's the average normal size for a MPEG 640 VGA video that is just under 6mins long? I did a video which is about 5min 51sec long but the size of it is 123MB which is quite big for a short clip. I have no experience and wondered is this about the norm for a MPEG with these specs, or am I doing something wrong? Is there something I can do to the finished clip to reduce the size? I remember downloading various videos off of the net and I don't think any were this big so what is it I can do to make these clips suitable for the web. Or again, is this the normal size? Anyway I would appreciate any help I can get on this, I am eager to publish my videos to the net but was a bit concerned about the size, thanks, Grego
thats about the usual size - but if u want to make smaller u can try to zip it a lot other than that its normal for 5 mins
Thanks for the info, It just seemed quite big, I was worried about the bandwidth charges if ten people download the clip thats over a gig of bandwidth. I did manage to reduce another clip of mine by reducing the bit rate, I wondered if there was any other methods, thanks again.
