i have read forum after forum and just dont know what steps to take first. i have modded the xbox, and got a copy of slayers Evox auto-installer. Now do i have to get another copy of something else to "flash" the bios or will the auto-installer take care of that?
second, if i was to "come across", some iso's that were available for download. could i just burn the iso's using nero and plug and play? or do i have to FTP everything straight into the xbox?

thank you ahead of time for any info that can be had

The auto installer should do everything for you from a to z. As for the iso's you download, burn them on "compatible media" that your xbox can read using nero and pop it in and so on...

You will need to flash your bios first if you havent already done that.

Download a bios eg xecuter 4983 and resize it to whatever.
Then put some dummy files on it and burn it to dvd-r.
A screen will come up, just follow what it says and wait a few seconds after you have pressed the button.

Your xbox should shut down. And it should be all ready.

Step 1 - Creating the Bios CD:

    - Download FlashBIOS v2.6.0

    - Ensure that the bios file you wish to use of an appropriate size for your modchip. (eg. Cheapmods require a 256k bios file and Xecuter 2 requires a 1Mb file.)

    - Make a copy of the bios file you wish to use and rename this copy to BIOS.BIN (You can also use BIOSUPD1.BIN, CROMWELL.BIN, XECUTER.BIN & LINUXBIO.BIN)

    - Select a CD or DVD media compatible with your XBox's DVD-Rom. (Most CDRW will work and most DVD-R will work. If you have a Samsung Drive then some CD-R will work)

    - Burn the BIOS.BIN file onto a CD. (For Nero select the following settings, No Multisession, ISO Level 1, Format Mode 1, ISO 9660, Deselect Joliet, Finalize CD, Disc-At-Once)

    - You should add a dummy file to the CD to ensure it is read properly by the XBOX. Something around 100mb onto the disc you are burning(it can be anything)

Step 2 - Flashing with FlashBIOS (Cromwell):

    - Turn your XBox console ON, when the DVD-Rom tray ejects please insert your BIOS.BIN CD and close the tray.

    - When the flashing procedure is complete the XBox will shut down.

    - If your modchip is writeprotected or the programming fails, you will be informed by error messages on screen.

allright, i have extracted the FlashBIOS v2.6.0 and have got a file that is 7.02mb, now do i just copy the entire folder into another that is named "bios.bin" or just the "bin" file(74bytes) which is located in the orginal extracted Flashbios directory?
as far as the dummy file goes, i got a copy of "dummy file creator" that should do the trick.

by the way i have a x-bit chip that will hold "2MB flash which can store a single 2MB flash or a mix of 256k,512k or 1MB BIOS
files (Possible total of six combinations)."

thanks for the help so far matty8887, i am so close i can almost taste it.

Burn the bios.bin file with the dummy file onto a dvd-r or cd-rw.

well i have used the executer 2 bios instead of the Flashbios exactly as described. naming the file bios.bin (256k) with a 100mb dummy file, with nero. the problem that i am having is the cd-rw (memorex) will not read in the xbox. nor will a dvd+rw (memorex). so there is no way that i can flash the bios if i can not get the xbox to read a different cd/dvd. is there something that i am doing wrong or do you think that i need some type of different media?

it seems to me that i have a "thompson" which according to everyone on the forums suck. the only thing that i saw was that one guy was using the "DVD-R/+R not the RW's. so i am on my way to the store to see if that will work.

I would reccomend ritek g04 or datsafe media on dvd-r.
    Then you should be ok.

well bought some Maxell DVD-R's, they didnt work, gonna have to try BestBuy and see if they have got the Datsafe or Ritek g04.
is there another way to get Evox onto the Xbox without DVD's?

It could be a bad bios. Try getting another bios, the same or different and resize it to whatever you want(not bigger than what your chip can hold)
