I have a question. I am currently downloading an old movie. Heavy Metal(1981).avi

It's file size is 718Mb. How can I make it fit on a 700Mb CD-R.

Basically I need to transfer the movie on to my home computer, I only have dial up internet at home, but my computer here at work has DSL, but no DVD making ability.

    Problems, Problems, Problems

There's only 3 methods that i know off, overburning, 800mb cds or if you have a good bit of video editing software you could downsample, i think TMPEnc can do that.

Sounds good, but now I have only one other question. What is involved in overburning.

Or better yet, how do I slit the movie in two parts?

And as always I thank all of you for your time, your advice has always been on the money

If your using Nero then there should be a option that lets you burn a extra 12mb to a cd (as well as overburn i think)am using version 6.6.0.15 i can't remember if this option is available with older versions

You can download a avi splitter here, http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Avi_Splitter.htm

I did learn something new, I did not know that 800Mb CD-R existed

Cannot find any locally here in Abilene, but a friend of mine had a couple and let me have one, but I am still gonna find out what this over burn thing is.

    Thanks Again

Yeah 800's are pretty rare I've only ever had one ten pack and that was something like two years ago, See where it says Maximum CD size under "Enable Disc-at-once CD Overburning" put it at something like 85 and it will burn more to the CD.

I checked it out and I'll give a try in a day or so.

I saw a program this morning on this site and I might also give it a try. Its called VCDCUT and I think it will allow me to split large files in two if necessary.

Some of these movie files are pretty large, so I need a better plan for the future.

I live in the middle of nowhere and reasonable priced DSL is not available there yet. So I use my computer here at work for large downloads

    Anyway Thanks Again
