I have many movies that are above 700MB. Ive seen, rarely, the discs that are 800MB. But I would like to see if they can be compressed onto a disc that is 700MB. Is that possible?

AVIs tend not to ZIP very well. You could split the films into two parts if you really wish to keep it in its original format. Otherwise, you can convert the video to another format (re-encode) that is more 'compressed' (meaning 'lossy').

If I were you tho, I'd go and find 800MB CD-Rs. They're quite easy to find.

I think most of the movies you see over 700mb are in mpeg format..you can get 800mb on a 700mb disk if the format is mpeg and you are trying to convert it to vcd or svcd...if its avi then you cannot get it on a 700mb disk.

Ah Yes. dbecker is quite right. You can get 800MB on a 700MB disc if you use VCD/SVCD.
