Hello, This is my first ever post so be nice :) I have just built a computer from scratch. I tried to install vista using the LG GGC-H20L blu-ray player (SATA) but after four hours of expanding files it had only reached 16%!! So I put a IDE DVDRW drive and installed it off that without a problem. Now I have vista installed everytime I put any disc in the computer it reads it and crashes, leaving me with the only option of reseting it. There are no conflicts showing on device manager.
    My specs are as follows:
    64bit AMDx2 5000+
    500gb HD
    2gb RAM
    abit AN-M2HD motherboard
    Vista Home Premium 64bit

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

Ive just been messing around on it and found it does open cds/dvds but takes literally 10 minutes. During these 10 minutes I cannot click on anything

Sounds like a faulty drive, have it replaced.

Just tried it on another pc and it works perfectly. It speeds up initially to read the disc but then just idles whilst reading it.

Hmm, fair enough. Tried a different S-ATA cable with it, or a different S-ATA port on the motherboard? nForce motherboards are notorious for S-ATA controller problems.

just put the SATA connection in all possible ports and I now can open the folder in the dvd but when I open a file in the folder the program associated with that file crashes along with 'my computer'. But I can still use the rest of the computer.

It's not the disc is it? Just thought I'd check that...

If the drive works fine in another PC and all disks do it, it sounds like it could be a fault with the motherboard. If you can, try another S-ATA drive.
