Hi all. I have been using shrink for quite some time without any problems. that is, till recently. within the last month, my computer has started intermittently shutting down during compression. I have tried defragging, cleaning the registry, shutting down non-essential programs, and using different programs altogether. I have downloaded ripit4me with fix vts and cloneDVD2 with Any DVD. I have even swapped to a known good disk (one that I have burned before). the only thing that is consistent to any degree is that I have a 80/20 chance that my computer will die before completion. I have not changed hardware or drivers. here is my system information: OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600 Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 7 GenuineIntel ~2492 Mhz BIOS Version/Date TOSHIBA V1.40, 9/3/2002 SMBIOS Version 2.31 Total Physical Memory 1,024.00 MB Available Physical Memory 557.21 MB Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB Page File Space 1.88 GB Page File C:\pagefile.sys Adapter Description GeForce4 440 Go (Omega 1.6693) (Q) Adapter RAM 64.00 MB (67,108,864 bytes) Installed Drivers nv4_disp.dll Driver Version 6.14.10.6693 INF File oem17.inf (nv4_mobile section) IRQ Channel IRQ 10 Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\nv4_mini.sys (6.14.10.6693, 2.70 MB (2,826,944 bytes), 2/19/2005 2:48 PM)
it sound's like you might be having a overheating problem try blowing the dust off of the heatsync and any other places, also do you get a blue screen before or after this happens?
no BSOD or anything like it. no warning. computer just shuts off. I would like to test the memory, but do not know how to make the bootable cd from memtest's iso.
