Hi everyone, my hard drive is brand new and the clicking sound is not coming from the computer itself rather from the speakers. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP3 and the same clicking sound that you get when you open a folder is just randomly happening all the time. I went into the control panel and turned the windows sound scheme off and the damn clicking still happens. It's driving me insane, I'll be listening to music or surfing the web and all I'll just hear is "click, click.... click.. click..."

ANY HELP would be GREAT Thanks!

    Try this:

    > Start
    > Control panel
Double click the sounds and audio devices icon
    Click the sounds tab
Scroll down in the Windows explorer section
Highlight Start Navigation and select none in the sound window
    Click ok

thanks for the response, it stopped making the noise on it's own, but if it ever does it again I'll know what to do. Thanks again.
