Hi im just wondering what speed CPU, graphics card, and how much ram i would need to watch 1080p MKV movies. Also something with HDMI out would be ideal as im gonna hook it up to my HDTV. And i dont really want to spend more than $500 so if this is at all possible let me know. Im willing to either build my own or buy one prebuilt if i can find it

Thanks in advance for any help

is this computer only for watching movies or do you want to use it as a tivo? if you wanted to do that you would need to add a tv tuner. also how much hard drive space do you need? the motherboard i listed has built in hdmi and a video card. it will be capable of playing 1080p movies with a dual core cpu. the case i listed should look good next to a tv and it has a nice psu included. it is an antec earthwatts with an 80% efficiency.

so the mobo has a built in graphix card but if i wanted to upgrade down the road is that still a possibility? i pretty much just want to watch any high def movies (possibily bluray down the road) with no problem. i also saw this CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103234 for only about $20 more because it bundles with the mobo. would all that be compatible with each other?

thanks for the help i really appreciate it

you would still be able to upgrade to a bigger graphics card in the future, and if you used an ati card you could use hybrid crossfire and use the power of the integrated gpu. the cpu you listed would be compatible but you can easily overclock the one i listed to the same speed.
