I've been backing up dvds using AnyDVD and dvd shrink for quite awhile suing regual DVD+R discs with no problems. I am now trying to use some DVD+DL discs but my computer won't read them. The first time I put the Dvd+DL disc in it kept asking me to put in a compatible disc and it lists off what the compatiable discs are, and DVD+DL is listed. and when I have no programs up and stick the disc in the drive, it doesn't do anything but act like it's scanning the disc for about 30sec, then the drive just stops. I tried double clicking on the drive to see what happens and it says the disc needed to be formatted, so I tried formatting it but then it said it couldn't be completed. I don't know what to do, anyone have any sugestions? I also am using Windows Vista if that's important. Thanks.
Happy New Year. First to do item on list: 1) Update firmware on burner 2) That's it for now 3) do item 1 if not done so already
ok maybe a dumb question, but how do you update the firmware? Is this the same as just updating the driver? Cuz I tried that and it said the driver was up to date.
Go to whoever makes your burner. look up software/firmware updates. Download firmware update for your SPECIFIC burner by model number, and update.
1, imgburn = TOOLS / DRIVE / check for FIRMWARE UPDATES 2, find and lock and load that sucker right in there no messing 3, have a coffee - relax 4, try again
Yep assuming your drives are DL-DVD compatible they need a firmware update. Just Google your manufacturer followed by "firmware" and you should find it in 2 ticks. Btw it's very important that you get the correct firmware for your specific drive. If you try and flash your drive with the wrong update you could fk it up completely so read carefully.
