Computer wont start up!!!!!!

    Hey i have a acer aspire 5100 laptop with windows vista media edition (i think thats what its called) and i used the system restore to clean out my computer to its factory setting and now when i try to start her up she goes to the acer screen and then she will go to a black screen with a blinking white cursor in the upper left corner and wont go any further. Does anyone know what i can do to fix it????

    i should tell u all that this has happened before and i fixed it but i cant remember how i did it.

    yea i have this happend before, and redoing the installation fix it.

    Totally shut off your pc,
    If you have the windows disk u will need it.
    Start the pc, pop in the disk, make sure the bios is set to boot from cd, and run the disk.

    It will say

    Press any key to boot from cd.....

    Go into the blue setup menu, and type in r to get to the recovery console.

    When you get there,
    Type in Selection 1

    or the

    C:\Windows or C:\1386

    And type in chkdsk /r.

    And let that run, if that doesnt work.
    I have other steps, just lemme know hows it going, i know i can fix it.
