Please help me. I am new at this so here it goes. I am building my first computer. I have a Gigabyte X48-DS4 motherboard. When I have everything hooked up and boot up fro the first time, what exactly do I have to do in the cios/configuration part before I install the o/s? (vista ultimate 64)

Do I actually have to go into the settings and change things? Please help as I expect the final parts to arrive in the next day or two.

you just need to make sure that all your parts are registering in the cmos and make sure that the boot order is set correctly example 1.cd 2. Hard Drive One 3. USB 4. Floppy... etc. etc. etc. other than that you shouldnt have to set other settings except the time on you mother board. just seriously be really careful while messing in the cmos! you can change something that looks harmless (adding/subtracting some voltage from your cpu for example) and end up screwing your brand new pc into the ground. if you need any other help just pm me... im a+ certified so i might be able to help you more in depth.

Thanks for the reply. That is a relief. You mention the timing. What do I need to know about that?
