i've recently reinstalled windows XP. and before installing Nero, i picked up a new LG GSA-H55l. and i installed Nero 8 Ultra Edition 8.1.1.4. i remember from previous experience that i needed to configure/install something in order to get my old dvd burner to function properly. and i believe i'm having the same problem this time. i'm using nero discspeed to do a read test. its starting out at around 5.6x, and then hangs around 6x. i tried reading a logitech driver disc first, and then a music cd. i'm sure this drive should be reading much faster than that. i've checked my device settings, and it is using Ultra DMA 4 Ultra 66. and let bios select transfer mode is selected. beyond that i havent seen anything that i could do. i'm running Nforce 4 drivers. i would also like to take a look at my log file, how do i go about doing that?
if you need any more info from me, let me know.
    thanks

It's a well known fact that a lot of LG drives are either incompatible or don't work too well with Nero Disc speed, especially the quality testing function.
I have two of 'em, my H20L is from 2006 and neither of them are compatible with Nero Disc Speed. Not alot you can do to fix that.
