hi i recorded a disc from a vhs tape on a panasonic dmr-e55 it played back ok but when i tried it on another stand alone player it said bad disc.and when i tried it on pc it said windows doesnt recognise disc. i used cheap 25p dvd-r discs could that be my problem.this was my first try at doing this. thank you 64yo now should prob leave this to you younger people . lol
I have a standalone DVD recorder aswell. It very much sounds to me as if you failed to "finalise" the disk after you finished the recording. If that isnt the cure, it may very well be the cheap disks. I would spend a little bit more (40p) on the "{DV 3098} Ritek Branded A Grade 4x DVD-R in pack of 25" on the following link :- http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/FOR_DVD_R_RW_CLICK_HERE.html These disks are of a good quality & will last for a good while. They will be highly compatible on a wide range of DVD players. The supplier I suggested are very reasonable, and if you are not happy they offer a 30 day "No quibble" money back guarantee. I have used them many times before, they are a top company to deal with.
