Hi all just wanna say great site and very helpfull. Ok so I have a LG 26LC2RZJ LCD tv and a 12" sony vaio laptop. I want to connect my laptop to my tv to watch movies I download for obviouse reasons (the screen on my laptop is too small to enjoy the movies). I bought a vga cable and plugged it into my laptop and the other end into my tv. I selected the appropriate channel on the tv but there is no picture and the tv says no signal (it says this about my dvd player when I switch it off). If any one can help I would really appreciate it :) Also will I be able to hear sound? Or will I need another cable to connect my laptop to my tv's speakers?

Most laptops have a key combination you press to enable the second screen, it's usually the Fn key plus one of the F buttons - usually they're labelled appropriately.
VGA does not carry sound, so you will need to use a 3 1/2mm to 2xRCA connector for the sound.
