I have a very old laptop that does not have an ethernet or usb port, only a phone jack. I have SBC Yahoo DSL (thats what it was called when i got it so im keepin the old name, i think its AT&T now), and was wondering if there was any way to connect the laptop to the internet via the phoneline?
Yes, but only at dial-up speeds (56Kb Max.) If it has a PCMCIA card slot you can put an Ethernet adapter on it.
no but will need either a wired or wireless router. if wireless router then need a wireless adapter whether usb or pc card for laptop.
will only be at dialup speed then. being you have a router then get a pc card ethernet or usb ethernet adaptor so both can be on at same time.
i would just connect via usb but i need to install drivers and i upgraded to windows 2K and tehy dont make drivers. so im trying to use unetbootin to install windows 95 and to transfer the program i was going to use file sharing on the network. however i remembered that i can just split the file into archives and use a floppy but, i would still like to figure out how to do this for the future becuase my router is in a very inconvienient place for a usb connection.
Hmmm, you mentioned Windows 95, and that is why I posted my response. You could have stated that Windows XP, and Vista support USB, too. DOH! The best thing that you could do with that laptop, is to find open water somewhere, and see how far you can skip it across the water.
