hi guys, well to start off i got a new router, and before i had it,i was using a crossover ethernet cable and connecting straight from my xbox to my p.c, but when i plugged in my router and got a cable from the p.c running to it and a cable from the xbox running to it,(my modem is still plugged into my computer as it is a usb modem and the router only has a wan port). it was working for a while until i turned my p.c off, and when i turned it back on it wouldn't connect. i used the connection wizard on the console and it passes the ip test and then fails the dns test,everything on both the p.c and the xbox is set to automatic, so what could be wrong? the router doesn't come with an installation cd or anything, but it has web based configuring, it says ive to open internet explorer and then type in http://192.168.62.1 to access the configuration, but when i do it just comes up with the page cannot be displayed error. im not a noob with computers or xboxs so i understand quite a lot about computers,but i just cant get this to work. p.s my router is a make called SOHO and has 4 ethernet ports and a wan port if that info helps. please someone help me!!!
ok this is whats up if u were hooked up from your modem to pc using usb,you have to take out the usb and put the ethernet that came with the router in the ethernet slot on the pc make sure the PC light on the modem comes on.now plug a normal ethernet cable from router to xbox.......(big note:you cannot have the Ethernet and the usb in the modem at the same time)
