    ok, ok.
It is a well known fact that too many open connections can make your computer a little sleazy and make the internet come apart, dragging all of your connection to the downloads and make everything else stall. Thing is, is I have a 1Mbps connection with a 128kbps upload, which is faster than alot of people's computer... and there are cases where I've seen people downloading alot faster than mine. I turn off my firewall (ZoneAlarm 6) whenever I download, and I'm not behing a router.
For a while now I've been using the LVL LORD patch thingy to allow up to 50 half open connections (rather than the Windows XP SP2 limit of 10), and I've taken that to be a must when using p2p these days. But seeing other people's computer these days have taken in cosideration that maybe too many half-open connections is what is freaking up my connection. If so, how many half-open connections should I set my computer for? And if anyone can help me even further, according to my system specs (1Mbps download, 128Kbps upload, opticfiber cable (93% efficient) not behind a firewall or router) could anyone tell me what should I put in my upload limit, open connections per torrent, global connections, max active torrents and stuff like that to optmize my downloads (and if posible, surfability of the internet without complete stalls while downloading)?

Answers to any of the questions would be really really apreciated
    thanks alot in advance

I'd take a rough guess at around 24kbs if you put it up too high then your internet browsing AND downloads suffer terribly (Ihad this problem for the first couple of days). Another thing azeurus is good for some pepes but I could only get 30kbs download on a 500 and sumthing connection (cant remember exactly what it is), while other torrent programs I can get 60kbs. Try Utorrent, bitcomet or bittornado, also make sure that your TCP and UDP ports are open on your firewall for what program you use for torrent downloading and just to test it try downloading a VERY highly seeded torrent (even if you dont like it!) and this will give you a more true d/l speed that your connection can take! If all else fails try changing upload limit by +1/-1 till your d/l speeds get better.
    N E wayz hope this helps :)
