You'll have to bare with me when it comes networks and connections as i'm not very technical. I'm trying to help my girlfriend's Dad with his connection to the internets. He's on xp and when you double click the network connection icon (i think this is what its called - its the 2 little computer screens - bottom right of the task bar) it says he's connection is 10mb but when i go to speedtest.net its not even coming out as 1mb. He's gotta wireless router with 2 other computers connected and they've all got really slow connection any ideas why this could be?
Thats because the 10Mbps network is from his PC to the modem. The modem's connection out to the internet is only 1 megabit, if that's what speed you get.
