I'm trying to stick together some digicam videos of my kid with transitions between each in Nero Vision.

I keep trying to play what I've got so far. But every time it only plays the current clip. It'll carry on with the next one only if I move the cursor (or whatever you call it) over to that clip.

I'd have thought that playing the whole thing would be the whole point so I'm thinking I must have missed something basic somewhere.

timeline or storyboard, it seems to be the same.

Can I get it to play the whole thing without stopping or is this it?

    regards,

    ab

and p.s. if there's some other prog I should be using please tell me. I like those mighty things like virtual dub and tmpg and opensource stuff and whatever - but what little I know doesn't point to any of those that I've got for this job. I do think Nero is often 'talked down' and better things suggested. Well I'll listen, if so.

hmmmm..... couldn't find it. There's very few options available in that screen of nero vision... there seems to be nothing to allow continuous play.

It seems to stick on each clip in the timeline and won't go over to the next clip unless I move it over, click the cursor on the next clip. Even if there's a transition (fades they call 'em) between the two.

I notice I've got a couple of directories full of .mpg files that have been made from my original digital cam .avi files. I don't remember doing this and I don't know why. Nero accepts the .avi files okay.

so I wonder if I did it because there's some advantage to it? Some better way of making a little 'movie' of my own? Different software, something I've got maybe?

Whyever I did it I probably was following advice from right here! It is where I come every time.

I notice you say yourself that you haven't used Nero Vision for a long while - so you use something else for choice?

    regards,

    ab

well you didn't look very hard my friend ad your video clips do what you've got to do to it menu etc then when you've finished and go to the next screen which is just before you create the dvd-video click on more and where it says when finished playing a file select play next clip

Well thanks for going back and finding it for me, killa, but I'm not sure we're on the same page.

I'm trying to make one 'title'. I'm joining little three minute clips (and less than three minutes) to make a little movie that might be all, say George in the sandpit. That'd be one 'title' I guess. One menu choice. Then I'd make another, etc...

That's where your 'continuous play' comes in.

But where I want it is when I'm there in the timeline sticking clips and fades in so's I can see the result, see what I've made so far.

I might find the fade I've chosen isn't right or is too repetitive or something, or I want to cut something out of that clip... these things don't become apparent until I'm watching the whole thing...

But I can't watch the whole thing....

I use this well its version 4 but like I said been a wile since I’ve done any video editing no call for it any more my daughter use to do ballet dance and do shows etc but gave the dance up Nero doesn’t give you much control when it comes too video editing only so much you can cram into a multi program you can only select continuous play in Nero just before you start the burn processes and I don’t thing you can watch it before you start the burn I’m not sure if you can in ulead but if memory serves me correct you can it’s a free trial so wont cost you anything to find out

Thank you, pal. I've actually got Ulead somewhere. I'll dig it out. I've got heaps of stuff I've bought and tried once or twice and uninstalled and shelved. This excellent forum got me onto Open Source and freeware stuff and I try to stick with it nowadays, whenever I can, and the old Nero, because Nero generally just does those simple things I want.

But not this time. I'm getting too classy now.. actually wanting to trim my clips and put fades in 'em... wow....

So perhaps I'll dig out my Ulead and see if it's not too old a version to run.

    thanks again...

    :)
