Happy New Year everyone. I have a small question about the quality of a file conversion I have done. I have an Xvid, AVI file with the following property settings:- [bold]IMAGE[/bold] width = 640 pixels height = 240 pixels [bold]AUDIO[/bold] bit rate = 131kbps audio format = MPEG Layer-3 [bold]VIDEO[/bold] Video frame rate = 25fps data rate = 128kbps video sample size = 24 bit video compression = DivX codec The file plays with no problems on my PC player, with a good quality video and audio. My problem is, that there is a noticable decrease in the quality of the video when the file is converted to a VIDEO.TS file for burning onto a DVD. The dark areas of the video are slightly pixilated, and the overall quality isn't quite as sharp or crisp as the XVID, AVI file. I have converted using WINAVI with the conversion set to best quality etc. Basically following the guide from this website. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening?
Well You could allways use a Better quality encoder but that will generally entail you doing more work... Most programs that will Take your AVI and Convert it directly to a "Video_TS" Folder do not have the Advanced settings in them so you can Fine Tune the Way the File is encoded and these programs also Put Speed and Simplicity ahead of quality.... If you Maybe used a Professinal Quality Encoder Like "Canopus Procoder" or even "Tmpgenc" can Produce very good Results, and use the encoder to encode your AVI file to a DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 file and then authored the Mpeg-2 file to DVD with a DVD authoring program You would probably get much better results..... When useing a Good Standalone encoder and a DVD Authoring program you get to use the other DVD Standards which allow for more Video to be Put on a DVD so with a Bit of Loss of Resolution you can get 2 or 3 or more Movies on a DVD..... The Method I use Takes Longer and is a Lot more Complicated than most but i get very good Quality and I make My Own Menu"s and Chapters and Scene selections and can even Put 2 or even 3 movies on a DVD without Haveing Pixeletion when watching on my 27in CRT TV set.... thanks. sounds interesting I will have to look into that in a bit more detail. I previously used VSO DivxtoDVD, then used cloneDVD2 to burn to diskbut have recently switched to WINAVI.
