I use VSO's convertXtodvd to convert DivX and Avis to DVD format. Running on my 5 year old p4 2.8 a 42min vid would take approx 25 mins to convert not including burn time. I just upgraded my PC to a Intel E6400 with 2 gig of ram and was looking forward to a boost in conversion time but it still took 25mins! I was dumbfounded! What I need to know is what you guys use to do your conversions and how long say a 350mb 40 min vid clip approx takes to convert? If you have any ideas why the old PC would be able to keep up with my new one I would be happy to hear em!
It is set to medium quality. I have tried quite a few other files since my first post and I would say my new PC is on average 10% faster. With some files it converts at 2.1X but usually runs at 1.6X. My old one used to be around 1.5X. How does that compare to what you are getting?
I don't think thats so bad time using medium settings. I use High quality/slow encoding and it will take about 1h to encode two 700mb avi to one dvd.
