    Hello all,
I am new to all the video stuff. My father has a Pinnacle usb-500 hooked up to his computer and whenever he captures anything(using the studio software it came with) then trys to burn it to a dvd it has to convert. Which takes forever. Is there a capture program or a different piece of hardware that eliminates the conversion and just captures in the right format?? Ty in advance

Welcome to the wonderful world of video conversion it takes time it is perhaps the most intensive thing your pc will ever do, You can try shutting down any uneeded software thats running to improve speed I recommend a 2hgz processor or better dual core prefered, with at least 2gb of ram. I do a clean boot before doing any video encoding it really helps improve performance I also do it for any hardcore games here is a link from microsoft on how to do it and it can be undone when you are finished you should see a 5-15% increase in process time most files to dvd take around two hours
