convert avi to DVD (without using Nero programs??)

    hey i was just looking at alkohol's perfect guide yesterday & found it very useful. My question is has anyone tried any non-Nero programs to do the same thing? I found a few good programs here that might do the same thing. But i'm a newb to burning avi-->DVD so somebody else knows the answer ;)

    I've been using FAVC lately.
    It's new and being updated.
    Converts, add menu, add subtitles, burns with imgBurn.
    It uses freeware tools like AVISynth to create the disk.
