Hi Yá'll Got this problem, i have backed up my whole collection of stargate to my harddisc in mpeg layer3 divx format. I cant seem to fine any software on this site that allowes me to convert seperate episodes (4 on 1 dvd) back to dvd format and i want to create a menu and stuff. Some of my original dvd's are damaged so bad that i cannot use shrink or any other program to copy the original. Im stuck with the mpegs on my harddrive and i wish to put the same episodes back on dvd as the original. Im now trying ulead dvd movie factorie, that works (i think now at it for 2 hrs and 2% overall) but only takes soooo long for 1 dvd to finish. I hope anybody knows faster software to convert multiple mpeg files back to dvd with selectable menu's Greetings and thnx, Marty
You already have the mpegs, just author them. Make your own menu's. DVDLab would work well for this, without re-encoding the mpegs (which is what Ulead is doing).
Nope dvd-lab doesnt seem to recognize the video/audio files, when i try to add a file nothing happens. i dont know the prog very well and seems a bit complicated, am i doing something wrong? Are you sure i can use it put my mpeg layer 3 divx files onto dvd ?
Nope. It will only accept mpeg-2 files. MP3's are a no no for DVD. You said "Im stuck with the mpegs on my harddrive", thus my previous answer. From re-reading, I think they are .avi or .divx with MP3 audio, and you'll need to encode them first, unless you have a player that can read DivX.
i think u are right, here are some details : Video = 4cc: XVID Audio = WAVE_FORMAT_MPEGLAYER3 (MP3) (0x0055) And there is a bunch of other crap but im not getting into that. So what is the best way u think, first convert it all and use dvd-lab Or just keep on using ulead dvd movie factorie I have ajusted some settings in the ulead prg because it only took so long because i had very best quality and that was not nescesary, now its a lot faster and makes a DVD in 2-3 hrs, so thats acceptable, not ?? but thnx anyway, and if u have any other suggestions....
ow yeah before i forgot, i did say: "mpeg layer3 divx format" ,So i ment its an avi file with mp3 audio so we got a little confused i guess
Ulead will work. Not the best, but far from the worst program you could be using. XviD is becomming more common, and although not a bad codec, it too is not the worst. Personally, I would use a good standalone encoder such as Canopus Procoder, Mainconcept mpeg encoder, CCE or Tmpgenc, and then author in DVDLab. If you encode properly, the video will come out the perfect size to fit the dvdr, and not waste any space. You should probably also learn how to encode audio separately, so you don't get sync problems. It's up to how much work you want to put into getting really good quality output.
I've had the same problem as Martyzzz. I had a series in 12 episodes on AVI now I want to encode them back onto DVD and I've had several problems... First is when I encode them back to MPEG's they go from about 500MB AVI to a 2.2 Gig MPEG (each). I then try to author them with DVD Lab and they come out to around 9 gig's after I add the menues and navigation. Can some one tell me how I can encode the video stream from 4 AVI's to 4 Mpeg's that I can then fit on a single DVD. I've done loads of single AVi's to DVD's that have worked fine. I've tried the combining of all the AVI's into one MPEG and I always seem to get errors. Is there any easy way of combining 4 individual AVi's into DVD format onto one disk? Help I'm pulling my hair out! Lebrocco
Lower the bitrate during the encode. Encode each episode separately. Author them, then burn. Use a bitrate calculator to figure out the bitrate. http://www.dvdrhelp.com/calc.htm
