Hi, I bought a Region 2 Version of Trainspotting. I thought that I could just rip it with Decrypter, run it through shrink, and burn a backup of it on a dvd-r, and that this back up would be region free. This did not work and it would play on my dvd player. I then tried Nero recode, but this also didn't make a region free backup. Does anyone know how to burn a backup copy of a R2 dvd to a dvd with no Region coding? Thanks.
Hi chino_m The backup is probably region free - both decrypter and shrink remove the region code. The problem is probably that it's a PAL dvd and you're in an NTSC region. Some dvd players will only play the NTSC format. So convert it NTSC w/ the vobblanker masking method. You can use the files shrink saved to your hard drive. Should play in most players. Thanks for the info binkie. I tried vob blanker, I selected the video files in the input and created a new folder for the output. When the Vob finished it had a "save as" to save the log. I then tried to burn the folders in the output file but I received a message that no video files were detected and if I were sure that these were video files (from Nero). I checked the folder and the video_TS files and the vts files were there. I then went to what had been the original video files folder(prior to vob blanker) and thought maybe these are the converted files since a new file entitled "vob blanker log" had been added. But after burning it still would not play. Can you tell me wich folder the converted files are in (Output, "save as" or other) and if I burned the correct files, do you think it is just my dvd player. Thanks.
And dvd shrink says invalid dvd navigation structure. Can you tell me how to burn the converted files from my "output" folder. I tried nero and shrink. Thanks.
Ok you would burn the ones from the 'output' folder. That folder would have the new processed files to burn. If the vobblanker log was saved there delete it. Did you change the video attrib to NTSC on all vts files? They were probably showing as PAL. To burn you can just use Nero Express. Use the DVD-Video Files option and just add the video_ts folder that contains the files vobblanker processed.
The first in the grid is video_ts.vob and is only 98k and a menu. I could not change it to ntsc so I did not include it. The second is vts_01_.vob, I selected change to ntsc, clicked process, and I did not save the log in the output. The output have the vts files but as stated up above Nero and shrink say that the structure of files are invalid. Any thoughts? This is not trainspotting but an Italian dvd only 2 gigs that is also in Pal. The original plays in my laptop but not my dvd player, just like trainspotting. While in vob blanker, when I highlite the 98k menu it appers in the little screen above, but when I highlite the 2 gig vts file it shows nothing in the screen.
You you only have 2 files with this movie from shrink ouput - the menu and the one vob? The menus don't convert unfortunately. Try shrink in reauthor mode - movie only. Open the video_ts from vobblanker and drag over just the movie.
