Can any 1 pls tell me how to do this? I have a movie in .rmvb format in my hard disk but I would like to save or burn it as a DVD so I can watch it in my or any DVD player. Also, would I lose any quality by doing this? Thank you very much.
Convert it to avi and then use TMPGEnc to convert to mpeg2. Then use TMPGEnc DVD Author to convert to VOB (DVD) format! This will help you http://www.mpgdvd.com/
Thank you sir, But pls tell me if I would lose any video quality by doing this and do I need a DVD burner? I only have a CD-RW, but I read somewhere it can burn DVD also with proper software?
There is no way to burn a CD and get DVD quality. If there was there wouldn't be all of us on this forum who spent $200-400 on DVD burners if a $60 CD burner would have done the job.
LOL I'm thinking that it's probably a Real Media file of some sort... Not worth messing with anyway , plus the discussion no longer belongs in this thread as Vitasoy only has a CD-RW that he is trying to put DVD onto.... so many silly people have asked that question If only people would do a quick search / read a bit !!
rmvb = RM Variable Bitrate the format seems to be right up there with divx in quality vs file size. I too have an rmvb file, and I'm starting to see them more and more these days. I've spent the last couple days reading and searching for a method in which to convert this format to avi or mpeg. I have been unsuccessful thus far. is anyone aware of a program to convert the rmvb format? and yes I'm aware of "RM to AVI" converter mentioned in this post... I was pretty displeased with this program. is there anything else that anyone is aware of?
I have just burned my rmvb movie onto to a CD disk with a regular CD-RW. I found that the quality is just as good.No need to bother converting it to any other format since it's so much hassle, and the rmvb file size is already as small as u can get considering the good quality of it anyways. The only fallback is I won't be able to watch the movie in my home DVD or VCD players unless it has a Real Player software in it? I can only watch it in my computer? But at least, I solved part of my problem, which is too many movies in my hard disk hogging up space..hehe And Herbsman...STFU and get lost OK? You're no help and your dumb remarks are not welcomed here..!!
Hi Vitasoy, you were very polite and mannerly in your first two posts which reflected well upon yourself. I understand your last comment as not everyone knows these things, frankly most wouldnt, but maybe you should remove last line by editing it and ill pass your remarks on to the user myself. I'll delete this message too once done. By the way im glad you are happy with the outcome of your video :-D
Thank you Oriphus, but as you said..."not too many people knows these things".. does that warrants Herbsman to call us "silly people" and "gullible"?? And was that polite and well mannered..?? I just asked a simple question in a polite way partly because of this software http://www.replicant2.com/ and we deserved that? I will strike it out only if he does. You do what you think is fair, either way is fine with me. Have a nice day.
Convert it to AVI and then use TMPGEnc to convert to mpeg2. Then use TMPGEnc DVD Author to convert to VOB (DVD) format! ---------------------- when you convert it to a dvd format , can it be burned onto a CDROM? or does it have to be burned on a dvd-r?
i just converted a .rm to a avi and i lost the sound and the picture slowed down slightly. quality remained same , is this meant to happen?
U can download the free trial of <Rm to AVI converter> if u wanna convert rmvb files to avi. Then from there, convert it to mpeg. But the Rm to AVI converter cost $19.00......
There is a software called Super RM to AVI DVD VCD SVCD MPEG Converter 1.13 Trial version is available at: http://download.com.com/3000-2194-10222123.html Although the trial version only converts 1 minute of video, it still works well for RMVB video files that play on RealOne Player. $29.95 to buy. RM to AVI converters do not work on RMVB files as I have tried nearly all of them. If anyone can find another software that does the trick, preferrably shareware/free, that would be great.
