When you installed VLC, did you associate VLC with DVD files?

    michaelxx,

Right click on the file, and then select Properties; Under General Tab, click Change. Now, select your Default Player VLC. Afterwards, click OK twice.

VOB is not the name of the files, is the extension. They are vts_01_1.vob, vts_01_2.vob...You also probably have some files vts_01_0.ifo and vts_01_0.bup.
Right click on the one with VOB extension.

If you cannot see the extension of the files, when you browse the folder in Windows explorer, go to Tools->Folder Option->View, and un-check "Hide extension for known file types". Cick Apply->Okay. Now you should be able to see the files extensions.
