Is it possible when I backup my movies to convert them from wide screen to full screen? If possible How??? Using DVD-R Thanx
I think your kinda stuck with that, maybe if the movie had both formats recorded on it you could back up that particular title, but most seem to be just wide screen titles. There are some high end re-authoring programs out there but I haven't used them. I like the wide screen version because the sides aren't cut off, but it can be annoying to have a blank area at the top and bottom of the screen.
Well Not if you are useing one of those One Button Backup Solutions like DVD shrink or DVD2One..It is Possible if you back up the DVD Manually But you really have to know what you are doing when trying to convert Widescreen 16:9 to Fullscreen 4:3 because if it isn"t done correctly there can be stretching and distortion of the Image...There is one simple thing you can try to see if it will work, There is a Simple little tool Called "DVD Patcher" it is used for Patching the headers in Mpeg2/Vob files, what you can try is before you burn the Widescreen "Video_TS" folder to DVD-R you use DVD Patcher to patch the Aspect Ratio header in each VOB file from 16:9 to 4:3, Then Burn the Video TS Folder or you might as well Just test it with WinDVD or PowerDVD...It is the Aspect ratio Header in the Vob file that tells your DVD Player to Display the Movie in Widescreen 16:9 or in Regular 4:3 so in theory changeing it to 4:3 should change it to Fullscreen...I just now tried it with a 4:3 File changeing it to Widescreen 16:9 and Played it with WinDVD and it worked so it is at least worth a Try....You can download the DVD Patcher here : http://mitglied.lycos.de/dvdpatcher/DVDPatcher_v106.zip .....Cheers
Minion, Im going to try it! Just happen to have some files in my VIDEO_TS folder. Thats the cool thing about this forum, you can always learn something new! I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks, Frank
Hi Minion, Thats a cool program, I managed to turn a wide screen movie into a wider screen movie, I had to click on each file and then convert it, any way to do all at once? I'll find a another movie to load up as the program replaced all the files in my VIDEO_TS folder. I also noticed that even after stretching the movie out wider it didn't seem to change the overall size of the compilation. fun stuff! frank
All it does is Change the Aspect ratio Flag in the Header, It doesn"t really do anything to the Video or resolution...I didn"t really Think it would work very well but it was worth a Try...You can allways re-encode the File to Fullscreen but that takes a Bit of work....Cheers
