Hello. I am new to this forum and have a couple of questions: I am using ver 2.2.3 of Convert X to DVD. Before upgrading the ver 2.2.3 i had no issues with the software with the exception of now. I need to know the following: -Whay do some of the AVI files say "pulldown required" under the "source" portion of the settings? I experience no issues when there is "no pulldown required" with some other titles. When "pulldown required" is present with other titles, this is when i have the problem. I particularly work with subtitled movies every now and then. I hope this has no bearing because i use VOB SUB, then move the file into CXD. End result is that it does not burn to DVD. Or does not play in home dvd player (Marantz)Other burned titles work fine). Lastly, under "Image Processing" "DE-Interleave" is checked marked. I never had this option in the earlier version of the program. I have even unchecked it at times thinking this would solve the issue but nothing. Should i always leave that checked mark? What is this for anyway? Please advise on all issues. Thank you
The 'De-Interleave' option is to correct the effect that you see here. The visible lines are apparent whenever I capture 'The Simpsons'. The effect isn't apparent on a TV screen, but is obvious on the PC. Depending on the source (NTSC or PAL) and the destination (PAL or NTSC), pulldown may be required to properly display the converted video on the TV screen. The program knows what the source and selected destination is, and so initiates pulldown as required.. http://members.aol.com/ajaynejr/pulldown.htm
I appreciate the answer but i still feel a little hung here. I went to the link and saw the explaination of 3:2 aspect ratio and i understand that. However, the original question is when i see "pulldown required" will i have to do anything on my own to corect the issue? The player that i view all copies can play either PAL or NTSC in the converted format only. I do not think it can play PAL video raw format as this is the overseas format which i am aware of. i.e i am in the process of converting "CONSPIRACY." Hre is the info under "Source Details" INPUT FILE: AVI ESTIMATED FRAME RATE: 23.98 AUTO TARGET: NTSC 29.97 FPS, PULLDOWN REQUIRED DURATION: 01:30:08.659 ASPECT RATIO: 1.8500 (37:20) AUTOMATIC SIZE: WIDESCREEN (16:9) STREAM COUNT: 2(CLICK ON A SELECTED STREAM TO CHANGE ITS OFFSET) #1- VIDEO: MPEG4,YUV420P,592X320,OFFSET 0 MS #2- AUDIO: MP3, 48000HZ,STEREO,32 KB/S, OFFSET 0 MS
If you leave 'Video Standard' as automatic, then for a PAL AVI you get a PAL DVD - (NTSC AVI gets NTSC). Since your player can handle both and it knows your TV type (NTSC or PAL) it will handle any conversion - it seems to be that the hardware in the player handles these conversions better than software.
