I am new to dvd and this is my first ever forum so please forgive me if i have posted in the wrong place, i did do a search but couldnt find what I needed. I have recently downloaded some movies from the net [[bold]edited by Mod[/bold]. 50% of them are fine but the rest play fine on my computer but when I try to burn them to dvd disc they turn out upside down!! They are various formats: avi mpeg DivX etc. They are still perfect copies but require you to stand on your head to watch them. What do I do? Please help.
At the risk of being thrown an object; Flip the monitor! hehe just kiddin ! There is a thread similar to this elsewhere in the forums. http://www.afterdawn.com/search/search_results.cfm and then enter " upside down" in the search entry and click SEARCH ! Regards, CK
Hey http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487 there is absolutely no discussion of piracy allowed in these forums please bear this in mind before [bold]EVERY[/bold] post you make _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Hey this forum rules[/small]
Yikes, I had no idea this person had dowloaded movies illegally. Otherwise I would have ignored the post. Isn't it possible to legally download movies ? Not that I would know anything about that .. I suppose it might take forever and a day to even download.. Beats the heck out of me why anyone would want to spend an eternity doing that. In any event aren't there some crappy films out there for downloading for free ? Last tiem I'll ever replyto post which mentions the word download... Regards, CK
Thanks for the link... yes i had thought of flipping the monitor but its a lap top so kinda awkward! May sound kinda nieve but I didn't realise I was doing anything wrong, I didn't think it was any different to backing up your dvd collection and thats legal... isn't it? (not so sure now) Only reason i wanted them on disc in the first place is that i have a VERY small monitor combined with bad eyesight so wished to view them on my 36" widescreen tv, i thought it was illegal to sell them but was ok for personal use. I can't understand how all these p2p networks are allowed to keep running if this is the case. Is it legal for me to download them in the first place? if not i will wipe them off my system now. Many thanks and apologies, Heidi.
hey UT_CK no it isent possible to Legally download movies because it is all protected content and is not allowed to be distributed by anybody who doesent have the rights from the companys lol, some downloading of movies etc ive heard people say they can get it done in 2 or three hours [bold]BUT[/bold] we just dont talk about it in this forum i have a few associates that do it but thats it... yes it is legal to backup [bold]YOUR[/bold] DVD collection just not to sell them to anyone else, they technically cant stop you downloading movies because of a few legal technicalities and is bordering on the "legal border" therefore it is not discussed in forums because of the legal implications it may have on the users of the sites owners. as for keeping them on your computer there really isent a restriction just as long as you dont talk bout it all the time. the whole P2P sharing system is very shady because of the legal issues, but apart from that you dont have to delete them
Heidi dont stress , it is ... and I quote So seeing as it's your first post I would definitetly forgive the naievty , as clarification of certain laws needs pointing out all the time ;-) It is legal to make a back up of a DVD that you 'already' own !! It is illegal (ie; Piracy) to say your renting a DVD to copy for instance. Plus laws change from country to country , so much to read up on eh In future it would be much more simple to state that you have an .avi/.divx/.XviD file you wish to convert to DVD-R (but get the odd film upside down) I use MainConcept MPEG Encoder 1.4 (to encode any video file to MPEG2) TMPGEnc DVD Author (to convert to VOB/BUP/IFO files) Nero 6 (burn as DVD-Video in VIDEO_TS folder) I dont have any upside-down problems !: ]-~ _X_X_X_X_X_[small] Afterdawn Guides: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ Afterdawn Rules: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/6346[/small]
glad to see youre appreciative heidi1 and i hope we have helped clear a few things up for you Best Regards Dean
That MPEG Encoder is a clever bit of kit eh! Needs alot of space though... i have a very small C drive on my laptop. I didnt even know what an encoder was before i visited this site (see told you i was new at this. hehehe) so yes, you have all helped me very much. xx many thanks heidi
Yeah , MainConcept MPEG Encoder is a lot quicker than all the others (whilst retaining video quality). Have Fun ! [bold]herb[/bold]
