I know this doesnt fully involve with the kind of things you answer on this website but I have found such great service before, I figured I would seek help here for this too. I have a .rar file that I downloaded, its 1.5 gigs so I don't feel like getting again. I also know that it could be corrupted, but when ever I use Winace to un-rar it, it claims that the file is not a .rar. So, what I am seeking is, how do I, in Windows XP Pro, change a file from a .rar to a .zip or any other. I remember back when you could edit the ending in browser on 95 and such, but they do not allow you to do that anymore. Thanks for your time and knowledge access .
If you want to alter those file extensions on a windows explorer go to Folder options... -> View -> uncheck Hide extensions for known file types. Although it might not matter if you just change the extension. I would try the newest version of winrar before doing anything else.
