at the risk of being a newbite, I did a search but was unable to find a perfectly clear answer. I have a tv show, season 1, episodes 1-7. They are all .avi files and I would like to burn them onto a dvd as 1 file. Can someone point me in the direction of a guide or give me the steps and programs I would need to take to get 7 avi episodes into 1 burnable dvd file? ....ziiiiiiiiiiiiip flamesuit on
I'm not the best on this but here goes. First, if your avi episodes are 1/2 hour, fine. If they are 1 hour, the quality would be terrible. There are many programs that will join your avi files, some free and some not. Virtualdub is free:http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/14/59/. Easy Video Joiner or Avi Joiner are payware. Then you will need a program to encode your file. Some like TMPGEnc or MainConcept can join your files as they are encoding or after they finish but I would suggest VSOConvertXtoDVD. I don't use it but I tried the prior version, ConverttoDVD, and was impressed with its speed and quality and, also that it encodes, authors and burns. The trial leaves a watermark on the video but you can try it and see what you think. I have only read good comments on it. Otherwise, you will need a separate authoring program and a burning program. Here is a guide for it:http://www.bitburners.com/Guides/DVD_Movie_Backups/VSO_Software_ConvertXtoDVD/. It won't join files but you could also skip joining the files. There would only be a seconds pause between files and the only other difference would be the counter on your standalone resetting to zero at each file.
I have never used VirtualDub except to create a wav file but step 5 in the guide says you can add as many avi files as you like. Actually, I wondered about this myself. Also, to add and somebody correct me if I'm wrong; I believe I read somewhere that the trial of VSO ConvertXtoDVD runs at 1/2 speed.
