anyone know of a freeware program to do this? The only one I have been able to find is called ASXtoMP3 but they want $25.00 to activate it. I only plan on using it to convert a cd of christmas music parodies I got online and cant justify the cost for a one time use. any ideas?
ASX is usually an informational or playlist for ASF files. Try using ASFTools: http://www.geocities.com/myasftools/ or AVI2WAV http://agrgic.tripod.com/avi2wav/ Then use LAME to convert the WAV file to MP3.
neither of those will work. As I only have the ASX file note the song information. I need a program that will take the ASX, then download the song info, then convert that into an MP3, or WAV that I can burn to a cd
I don't know of a good way to do that. You could try a streaming media capture program like Windows Media Recorder version 11, if you can get it to work. If the URLs within the ASX file are http://, you may be able to simply copy them into your browser URL bar and download the files one-by-one.
