I have three AVI files (a movie) that I'm trying to convert so they can play on my 642 player. With TMPGEnc and Winavi the files play okay but the images are all blue in colour. What needs changing to get the correct colours.

What is the current format of the avi files that you're trying to
    convert?

Try encoding a short clip, about 10 minutes, using xvid at the
default settings, using something like virtualdub.
