I want to convert some avi files to DVD, but no matter what program I use (and I've used a few) it always crashes that program. It even does it when I try converting to svcd or vcd. It's weird. Could a codec on my XP machine be corupted and if so which?

And it is not that particular avi file(s); I have tried a few different.

Give us some more information. What programs have you tried? Did you get any error messages? Are your codecs all up to date? Where are you getting the AVI's?

Opn that AVI with VirtualDub. Does it shows anything?
You could also run Video Fixer on it and to see if even after it fixes it , the program you use again fail.

Hi, I have the same problem, I have tried encoding with Winavi and with convertxtodvd they both crash when encoding avi files and i have used different files so it's not one file that is bad. Also i reinstalled new divx and xvid codecs but this did not help and i dunno what to do. maybe i need to reinstall more codecs. previously winavi encoded fine for me.

hey i installed winavi version 6.3 tht works fine without crashing but only when i removed my graphics card. also when my graphics card was installed it stopped me using videodora ipod convertor and winxmedia mp4 convertor. when i removed the card i could use winavi and encode mp4's for my ipod so the faulty card (geforce 6800) is boxed up untill i want to game but i still need to contact techincal support.
