I am trying to convet Avi to mpegs at a decent size. I am able to convert the file but it goes from a 700mb avi to a 4.3gig mpeg.
I have done some looking around and have found that most people are saying that the size will get bigger but should only double..
The settings that I am using in TMPGenc are:

    NTSC:
    Horzontal width: 352
    Vertical height: 240
    Frames per second: 29.97
Colour depth: 24 or 32 bits

What am I don't wrong or what am I not doing right...???!!!??

A 700mb AVI file should only be about 1. something gigs, but sometimes it will do that if TMPGEnc continues after the movie is finished. Try changing your settings in Environmental setting, VFAPI plug-in tab, Directshow multimedia file reader. Right click the name and click higher priority until it goes to 2 and the top of the list. This usually works. Settings should be:

    MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps
