Is there any other programme I can use to either put it on DVD or even maybe CD
Cucusoft is surely good, but maybe the problem is simply you don't have the Xvid codec installed on your PC. More, read the 'sticky' thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/110106 to have some hint about converting AVIs and othr stuff. To put movies on CDs use VCDEasy or VCDGear (freeware!). ON DVD I don't know, I never do it.
The codecs are installed on the pc as I can view the files and they play fine on the PC. One is in mpeg 3 and one is mpeg 4 format and I dont think TMPG can recognise them
Cheers for that - only problem being I get as far as screen 2/5 when I try to open the file but there is no option tab available at that time anywhere?
