Converting DAT file (mpegav) from vcd to another better format

    Hi this is my first time here in this section and I need some help please :-'( help me.

    I have a video CD, which is dat file format but unfortunately its not clear so my question is what is the best format to convert it to from the following that can give a better video clear image?

    -PAL DVD
    -PAL VCD
    -PAL SVCD
    -PAL MPEG1
    -PAL MPEG2
    -Streaming real video file(rm)
    -WMV (352X288,30 fps)
    -WMV HD PAL
    -DivX AVI

    *If there is a format that not listed please tell me I have Ulead video studio, Speed Video Converter and nero but dont know what the best format to convert my vcd to for a better and clear image thank you.

    Changing it to a better format won't increase the quality. Infact converting to another lossy format will only reduce the quality further.

    Changing the format indeed will not improve the original quality of the video per se. But there are programs (e.g. VideoMach) that allows you to sharpen the picture, fine tune the color etc.:

    You may need to experiment a few times to get the desired results. So always back up the original video first.
