converting divx to vcd format

    I downloaded a 700mb divx video and want to convert it onto vcd so that I can watch it on my domestic dvd player. I used the software, AVS video converter to split the file and then encode for vcd. But found that the audio is totally out of sync with the video. Why is that? And how can this be fixed?

    Why? Pony up the bucks and get a Liteon or other DVD player that can handle MPEG-4 and divx
