    Hi,

I am extremly new to this. I have some family footage files on DVD, that I want to edit. I have used Mac the Ripper to copy the DVD, but I'm not really sure where to go from here. How I can turn them into MPEG files.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

Unless "family footage" is a euphemism, why did you use MTR?? You can copy a non-encrypted file directly to your harddrive.

will take you straight to where you can download this FREE piece of software. (Don't download the newer beta version - stick with the older one that appears above it in the column). When opened, under File menu, you will see a host of conversion options, including to MPEG. Also, it has some editing facilities. If you are new to this, Final Cut, even Express rather than Pro, will overwhelm you.
