i know practically nothing about converting files of any type and im not sure if this is even the right forum. i was wondering how i can convert a small clip i took from a dvd movie using dvd shrink from an ISO image to a file that can be emailed and then clicked on so that it will play in something like wmp10.

The DVD movie would be huge (various GBs). You might convert that movie to something else. The more quality you lower, the smaller the file will become.
    A MPEG-1 (352x240/288) will be 10 MB x length (in minutes).
In any case, you should start from that. You'll have a relatively small file that later you can manipulate further.
Windows Movie Maker can import that video and modify into a small WMV file (smaller as long as you decrease its resolution).
I don't know if it can directly load a VOB set/ a .D2V file (which is a pointer which loads the VOB set, see http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd2vcd_with_smart_dvd2avi_tmpgenc.cfm) but it can create very small files.
REad http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd2vcd_with_smart_dvd2avi_tmpgenc.cfm (to create a DVD -> VCD) first, ther study Windows Movie Maker.

Ah, you posted 'converting an ISO' , not a DVD. So, the ripping part can be skipped and you just have to 'mount' that ISO image with anything you have (Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools), so that .ISO will become drive E: (supposing you have only D: as a real unit and E: will be therefore the virtual 'mount' unit, otherwise encrease the alphabetic letter)

to be honest, most of what u said is over my head. im not wanting to email an entire movie, only a clip which is about the length of a movie trailer. i used dvd shrink to take just that clip from the movie and compressed it also w/ shrink to get it smaller in size. it is an ISO image and the problem is i dont know how to get it to a mpeg or wmv or whatever file i need to so that i can email it and the person receiving it can click it and play it or save it and play it. i also know how to mount the image w/ daemon tools. but im not sure how that will help me. is that part of converting the file? any extra help would be appreciated. thanx in advance.
