I am thinking about buying an mp3 player, and I would be tempted to buy a Samsung one (the K5 model). My question then is: what if I buy a song from iTunes? as far as I know, those songs can be played only by the iPod, so how could i convert them to an mp3 format? I have gone through past threads within Afterdawn forums, but I have the impression that things (and softwares) may be changed in the meanwhile. FREE sotwares are preferred.
    thanks for helping.

Part of the iTunes application software is the facility to burn the purchased iTunes tracks to a CD. This creates a normal audio CD, playable on CD players. You can then rip tracks from this CD, in whatever compression format you like, even back into iTunes using the MP3 encoder included with iTunes, or the LAME encoder and application you might have for your usual conversions.

Two applications come to mind.. audio-Convert (linux) and dbpoweramp music converter. Both will convert anything to anything else with the right codecs.. even m4a files.
The itunes format was ripped by somebody a few months ago, google should find more info.
