Ok Im streamimg pay tv from a video capture card to my network via vlc using
    mp1v for video at 3072kbs
    and
    mpga for sound at 192kbs
that is working fine now I want to be able to capture some of the shows, I can record the shows without any trouble but I cant find any software to edit them I want to be able to remove adds etc and clean up the begining and ends all the apps I normally use to edit video cant open the capture file so I need a program to either convert them to Divx, xvid etc or edit them in their current format any ideas ?
    Ive tried
    virtualdub
    virtualdub Mod
    Any video converter
    tmpg

    Thanks

Give Avidemux a try or Internet Video Converter.

I'm still working on this myself, so I don't want to give any of my current WIP away..

I have a good reference to recording/streaming/converting here.. lots to read and many many good reference links. http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=6053

Why don't you try streaming it again through vlc and outputting to a different (and easier to work with format like mpeg2)

or.. and heres one probably nobody has thought about.. mp1v is a standard mpeg1 (vcd) format underneath.. have you tried just renaming it?.. otherwise have a search for the options that can be used with ffmpeg.. that will convert it, but I don't know them offhand. ;)

Avidemux can recognise the video stream and can edit and convert it there are some minor sync issues but I think I can iron those out
    Thanks cyprusrom for that
