Hi, A couple years ago I transfered some old home vhs tapes to PC using some ATI tuner card. At the time I didn't realize that it saved the files in .vcr format, and since then I've gotten rid of the tuner card and can no longer play the files. I tried playing them using VLC and the audio plays but no video. It's as if it's missing some video codecs. I also don't want to download the software from ATI as it seems to be bundled with the drivers, and the last time I had the drivers installed they caused problems on my machine. Does anyone a program that can convert the files to a more standard form. Thanks, Wagz
FFDSHOW has a setting 'ATI VCR1' that can be turned on., that might allow the likes of Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic to play these files. I don't have any .vcr files so I cannot verify this. You would have to download and install FFDSHOW, then set that codec to test. The configuration can be accessed from the Start Menu. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm
