Converting

    Need some help just starting to dvd burn. I downloaded avi and mpg but not sure on what software to download to convert to play these movies in my home DVD player. Also to burn to a disk, is it necessary to burn to a DVDr or are cd-r or cd-rw okay to use. If anyone can get me started muchly appreciated.

    You don"t want to use CD-R"s for Movies as they don"t hold enough Space for Movies in DVD Format unless you have a DVD Player that Supports the DivX/Mpeg-4 Format in which case you could Burn DivX Movies to CD-R and Play them on your DVD Player.....

    There are many Ways and Different programs to put Files on to DVD but it all depends on what type of Quality you want and How much Video you want on a DVD and How much work and Time do you want to put into Learning how to do it and actually doing it....

    If you want to do the Simplest Route then download a Freeware program called "VSO DivXToDVD" and it will Convert a Movie into a "Video_TS" Folder and that you Just have to Burn the "Video_TS" Folder to DVD in "DVD Video" mode useign something like "Nero"....

    There are also other Easy methods Like useing "AVI2DVD" and "Nero Vision Express" and "Ulead DVD Movie Factory" ect, So it is Up to you what you want to do and how to do it....

    I downloaded VSO DivXToDVD to convert to a Video_TS but when i converted my avi file it burned onto disc with no siund any suggestions. Thanx

    Are you saying that there was No "Sound"??

    That could be From a couple things Like Maybe you don"t have the Right codec installed but if you can hear the audio when Playing the AVI file then that isn"t the problem....

    The Problem Could also be that the audio in your AVI file is VBR MP3 audio which will allways either Go out of Sync after encodeing or totally disapear after encodeing....

    To solve this problem you should decompress the audio in your AVI file before you encode it to DVD....

    If you download this Tool and Run your AVI files through it before you convert them to DVD then it should solve your Problem....

    What if the file is mpg I got the avi to work but the mpg still plays with no sound after i put it on dvd for my dvd player. The mpg file has sound on my computer before I convert to dvd.
