hello, just wondering if the hive could help me out here.

using convertxtodvd i've been trying to get an avi to burn to a dvd-r 4.7Gb disc.

convertxtodvd tells me the file will be 2.61Gb on media, then after conversion is over it opens the disc drawer telling me my dvd-r is the incorrect format and to insert like a dual-layed one. looking at the logs it seems it's encoding the thing bigger than 4.7Gb (rather than the 2.61Gb it stated at the beginning). I have no idea why it's doing this. the only thing i've changed is to put the aspect ratio at 16:9 and to 'fit to screen' (wanted to see if i could make a copy that wouldn't crop so much on my 4:3 TV).

any ideas on what the problem is?

Don't set the target size to DVD5, as sometimes will output more than the actual capacity of your DVD+/-R is. Set it to "Custom", 4300Mb. Maybe thesize it was initially 2.6 GB, but if you changed some settings after that, the size changed. or ConvertxtoDVD acted up.
