After following that little lot, I'm surprised my proggy works..lol.
Just a thought here, how about you delete the proggy once more But run ccleaner in reg mode to clean up any leftovers from your other attempts. When you've done the clean up restart your pc and install convertX once again. Take note that Nero plays no part in burning your projects. If I have the story correct, convert has it's own burning engine.
Follow the steps above and post back with results. Do not skip anything.

    Cheers.

Glad to see another Quad Core user, welcome to the club :)

I read thru most of that link (you're in good hands with cougar_ii btw), but i must admit i lost interest near the end. ..anyways, do you autoburn ?, if so could you try turning it off and see if manual burning works ?.

..my suggestion isn't going to fix/find the elusive cause, it's just a way to (hopefully) get you up and burning again. I seem to post this more and more lately but i have a strong dislike for any program that calls a burning program/engine after video conversion or whatever, i only ever do manual burning. If nothing else, if something doesn't go right with a conversion you'd end up (auto)burning crap to a (wasted) disc.

out of interest.. why the determination to use outmoded convertx when dvd flick has support for multi processor setups and imgburn?

I think the cause lies elsewhere.. like SecuROM.

I am with creaky, have an aversion for "auto" burns, for same reasons. I don't use ConvertxtoDVD(tried it, failed, let it go). I don't convert much anymore since using the XBOX, but when I did, DVD Flick always served me well for converting, and then burned with ImgBurn or NBR. I am sure ConvertxtoDVD is good at what is supposed to do- Convert.
However, for burning, I would never trust it over a software that was designed to burn from the beginning, like ImgBurn or Nero Burning ROM for example. Nowadays, to be competitive on the market and responding to the call of newbies that scream for "1 click convenience", they try to make it an "all-in-one" software, but it'll take a while before they get it right. Till then, I would just stick with what's been proved to work.

Hi, well I have tried imgburn also and that did the same thing, it all comes to a halt when writing "lead in". The drive spins but nothing else, I am also unable to close the programme, the pc grinds to a halt and I have to re boot. The only thing that works is Nero. With ConvertX I have burnt hundreds in the past on another PC with a philips Drive, also ConvertX does have the option to save the conversion to the drive and burn later if required. Anymore sugestions? What is Securom?
    Thanks
